Episode 8 was a main chapter for Nogi and Tent!
There were heart-wrenching scenes where we discovered an unexpected side of Tent and felt the love between parent and child.
Many scenes in Episode 8 were filmed in Mongolia! The staff was energized by the straightforward nature of the local children.
The Miracle of the Black Market that Saved Yusuke Nogi💫
The scene where young Yusuke begs in the black market.
30 local children and 100 extras participated in this scene🙏
Iida, the journalist who saved Yusuke from a desperate situation.
This role was played by Toshihiro Wada!
It was his first time joining the Fukuzawa team since 'Shitamachi Rocket'!

Running, Shouting, and Practicing💨
The children in the orphanage in Episode 8 were supported by children from the Khentii region of Mongolia.
This area is located east of Ulaanbaatar💡
Everyone practiced running and shouting "Beki!" and "Nokoru!" many times!
It was impressive to see the members of Tent, led by Mr. Yakusho as Beki, practicing together many times!

The View from the Jet-Black Sunglasses🕶️
Batoraka, played by Yasufumi Hayashi, is Beki's close aide.
His characteristic sunglasses are very impressive🕶
But actually, the lenses are so dark that he can barely see anything👀!
Especially in the dark underground dungeon, he could only recognize outlines!
His acting in such a tense scene is truly amazing!!✨

The Secret of the Nogi Family Veranda
The Nogi family set carefully expresses a "Japanese" worldview.
We were very particular about the stone paving around the entrance and the garden visible from the room!👀
For the scene where the veranda is shown, we filmed by opening the wall on the camera side!🎥
The Voice of Drum's Translation App is...🗣️
Megumi Hayashibara is in charge of the voice for Drum's translation app!
Here is a look at Ms. Hayashibara during the voice recording!
Actually, Drum was also present at the recording to practice his expressions🥁
The fact that the voice calling "Nozaki-san" is "a little sexy" is a specific direction from the director!
Ms. Hayashibara responded brilliantly, and Drum's unique character was completed🌟

Does the Desert Have Different Expressions Depending on the Time!?
For the night scenes in the desert, if we filmed at actual night, it would be too dark to see the sand dunes...
Therefore, we filmed during the day when the sun was up and created the night scene by darkening it in editing.
We aimed for times when shadows appear on the dunes, such as early morning or dusk, when they look most beautiful🎥
Beki's Tears
The hill where Beki was crying is a grassland area called Berkh in Khentii.
Actually, we encountered a mishap where the place we had planned during location scouting had not turned into grassland...!
When we found this place while searching for an alternative in a hurry, we thought, "This is destiny!" and were very moved...!
That's all for the behind-the-scenes stories of VIVANT Episode 8!
Look forward to the behind-the-scenes stories of Episode 9!
